Good food and great company is what Christmas is all about. It’s that time of year where we make our best efforts to catch up with loved ones over a tasty bite to eat and cocktail or two. Christmas at Warwick Street Social ticks all of those boxes. Their menu is delicious, the drinks are a plenty and the atmosphere is cosy and festive. They are known for their modern twist on the classic dishes and their Christmas offerings certainly didn’t disappoint! Last Friday I headed down to sample their Christmas delights and catch up with some lovely blogging ladies.
Starter – Prawn, Crayfish & Mango Martini Cocktail, Avocado Puree
This was a mouth-watering take on the classic prawn cocktail. The wonderfully fresh crayfish complemented the creamy avocado nicely and the mango gave it a sweet, refreshing twist. It was the perfect way to start a meal as it was a really light dish; a tempting taster of what was to come.
Main Course – Honey Roast Guinea Fowl Breast, Baked Celeriac, Chestnut Sautéed Sprouts, Purple Carrots, Shallot Jus
Normally this would be served with fondant potato (which looked delicious) but alas I can’t eat potatoes anymore. The lovely team at Warwick Street Social were kind enough to adapt dishes to any dietary requirements – without any interrogation. They also have a range of gluten-free options as standard and are really clued up about it – which is amazing! Anyway, onto the delicious main course. The flavours and textures of this dish were incredible! Everything complemented each other nicely. The guinea fowl was cooked nicely, it had a subtle flavour and wasn’t too dissimilar to chicken. Te celeriac was creamy and delicious and the sprouts didn’t even taste like sprouts! I don’t know how they cooked them but they actually tasted nice. I’m normally a massive sprout hater. All in all this was a wonderfully curated dish.
Black Forest Martini – This was all kinds of incredible! It tasted just like a black forest gateaux and was the perfect pre-dessert drink. It didn’t taste too alcoholic which is always good but somewhat lethal. The cocktails at Warwick Street Social never disappoint!
Dessert – Prosecco Jelly, Red Berries, Dehydrated Raspberries, Strawberry Sorbet
Light, refreshing and fantastically different. This is grown up jelly at it’s finest. I could have quite happily eaten this three times over! The flavour combinations were incredible – sweet, tart and creamy all in one dish. The chef’s certainly know what they are doing here!
Candy Cane Cocktail – We dreamt up this one at the cocktail masterclass. It is refreshingly sweet and would be a lovely dessert replacement.
All in all I had a wonderful evening celebrating Christmas with some inspiring ladies. Warwick Street Social have certainly nailed Christmas. With a tempting range of drinks, an incredibly and unique menu and a cosy atmosphere – what more could you want?
