Embracing tights this winter with Hunkemöller

Tights, they’re a bit like Marmite, you either or love them or hate them. As someone who struggles to find trousers that fit, I’m reluctantly in the former camp. This year instead of sticking to plain old black tights, I’m on a mission to play around with the patterns and denier levels to make them work with an outfit or to enhance them. It’s time to make tights the best piece of the outfit, instead of a necessary evil. These gorgeous polka dot hold ups from Hunkemöller are the first of many pairs that I’ll be rocking during the party season and beyond!

The Hunkemöller 20 denier all over dot hold ups are not only gorgeous but the quality is incredible! They fit nicely and the material used feels durable yet silky and soft on my legs. The hold ups have a reinforced heel and toe as well, which is a sign of good quality. They are so comfortable, meaning that you can wear them to the office and straight out to the party. So I thought I’d show I’d show two multitasking outfits, that do just that.

The shirt dress

If all else fails, throw on a shirt dress. This gorgeous silky shirt dress was my bargain of the year at £5 from H&M. It can be worn with or without the waist belt but I love how it cinches me in. For me nothing says winter or party season like a fur coat. This gorgeous jacket was my bargain of last year from Matalan (I know right…it’s hard to believe?!) It’s so snuggly and cosy and is pretty good at keeping you warm. Throw on a pair of heeled boots (these are M&S) and you shall go to the ball!

I love how my Hunkemöller hold ups jazz an otherwise plain outfit. I’d have normally thrown this on with a black pair of tights and felt a bit ‘meh’ or like a black blob. They inject a bit of fun and interest to my outfit. I adore the lines up the back of them too. It gives me serious Dita Von Tease vibes…If only I had her confidence!

A twist on a suit

I love the look of a suit with a twist. It makes me feel like a bad ass boss be who’s about to take over the world! Let’s face it you need that feeling come December. The jacket and high-waisted culottes are both from Zara. I adore both pieces and wore them all summer long. The jacket is my failsafe for when I need to look smart, but the culottes rarely see the light of day in the winter. I tried to rock them with plain tights but it didn’t quite work as they were too opaque. These polka dot Hunkemöller hold ups are the perfect pair to complement them, thanks to the different in opacity and texture.

I’ve paired this with my New Look sheer polo neck with a basic black cami underneath. I love how the sheer top and sheerness from the tight contrasts against the opaque jacket and trousers. Throw on a pair of court shoes and you’re ready to take on the world.

You can probably tell that I’m a little bit in love with my new snazzy holds ups! They feel like a breath of fresh air in my wardrobe. I have a couple of pairs of the 15 denier hold ups of my wishlist too.  I’m definitely a hold up convert. I find them much more comfortable and less restrictive than tights. So if you’re after a little party season treat – head over to Hunkemöller and check out their tights which are my party season essentials. They’re top quality, comfortable and they have something for everyone. I’m promptly adding some of their underwear to my Christmas list too!

Do love or loathe tights?
