Thanks to Gucci to Dior and Ashish (to name a few) you couldn’t escape the slogan tees on the catwalk this season. From cute phrases to tops that made a political or feminist statement there was certainly not shortage of choice. Granted you don’t need a t-shirt to prove that you’re feminist or feel a certain way, but it can be a fun way of making a statement. I’d been eyeing up the Topshop feminist t-shirt after the Topshop Norwich Fashion Week show, but couldn’t bring myself to spend loads. So I settled for this fun Femme Vibe t-shirt from H&M. I think I paid around the £10 mark for it and I’m surprised at how much I’ve worn it. It turns out they are a lot more versatile than I thought. So here are three ways to wear a slogan tee this season.
Three Ways To Wear A Slogan Tee – Smart Casual
I’ve been loving pairing this tee with my Zara culottes and blazer. I feel like it dresses the top up a bit and it’s a fun alternative to a dress on a night out. My idea of smart casual is pairing a smart item with a casual one and I really love the look. I’ve been wearing these Zara culottes to death as well. They are perfect for summer. I can wear them to the office, for drinks and for smart events. They’re comfy and pretty cooling to wear as well so it’s a win win! I love throwing this outfit on with a pair of heels (Marks and Spencer), a choker and mirrored sunglasses, which just make everything look cool!
This is the perfect outfit for a chilled out night out, depending on your office dress code you could get away with it at work. Or at least on a dress down Friday! I just love how cool, yet powerful this whole look is.
Three Ways To Wear A Slogan Tee – With a Girly Twist
A baggy round neck white t-shirt isn’t the most flattering thing to wear, so it’s the perfect piece to wear with something a little more girly. Cue a glittery princess skirt with plenty of swish. I bought this as a “Christmas skirt” but I’ve been wearing a lot since then! I really like how the two balance each other out. I’d say this is a casual outfit, granted it’s not one for slobbing around the house in, but it’s an outfit that I always reach for when I want to look bit more pulled together but still casual. It’s great for shopping, BBQ’s and generally being out and about. I wore this outfit to fashion week too, so if it’s good enough for that it’s good enough for the weekend! Dress it up in heels or dress it down in sandals, it’s up to you.
Three Ways To Wear A Slogan Tee – Casual Weekend Style
In the summer I’m a denim shorts and a t-shirt kind of girl. This Femme Vibe tee gives it a seasonal twist and adds bit more interest than a plain top. Pair it with trainers, flip-flops or sandals depending on how comfy you want to be. It’s perfect for running errands or heading out for a chilled out day. My shorts are from Bershka last year. They make the most comfortable denim short shorts. I’m wearing it with my Primark sunnies and choker and my New Look double sole trainers. So all in all this is a pretty cheap outfit.
I guess you could call me a slogan tee convert. I fell in love with them years ago and I was desperate for a Henry Holland one (remember those?) but I found a cheaper H&M version. Some things never change eh? At the end of the day, actions speak louder than words when it comes to being a feminist (or having particular views). So you really don’t need to wear something to prove yourself. However I like to think of this tee as a conversation starter and a fun way of making a statement. To me it’s a little reminder to me of the amazing things women can achieve too.
If you’re wondering what the quality of the top is like it’s pretty good! It’s soft and baggy meaning it keeps you cool and you can wear it all day long. So you really don’t need to spend a fortune to be on trend this summer and with three ways to wear a slogan tee your cost per wear will be through the floor too!
