Introducing the matte lipstick that dreams are made of – YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats 202 Rose Crazy. That’s definitely a sentence I thought I’d never type on here, or say ever actually. But to say anything else would be an understatement and it really wouldn’t do the lipstick justice. It’s safe to say that YSL is fast becoming one of my favourite make up brands.
202 Rose Crazy is the perfect red for us pale human beings, it is a pink toned red meaning it isn’t too harsh against my skin, making it stand out for all of the right reasons. It really compliments my ghost like skin tone, as you can see above. The lipstick has a slight perfume style scent to it, but that wears off when it is on the lips, it’s also a nice tasting lipstick, which is important. (I know that sounds weird!)
The formulation of the lipstick is incredible, it is the most comfortable, long wearing matte lipstick I’ve ever come across. YSL’s description of the formula is spot on “Its “stretch-leather” texture espouses and adjusts to the lips, ensuring a matte, sensually sleek finish and colour fidelity for 6 hours.”
The 6 hour (plus in my opinion) wear is one of my favourite aspects of the lipstick. I’m not a fan of touching up my make up in the middle of the day or after eating so I need products that last. I’ve worn this lipstick for an entire evening of dinner and drinks and it hasn’t budged. I can also get to 5pm at work before I need to touch the lipstick up, if I’m going out afterwards.
Last but not least I have to mention the packaging, in short is dreamy. Not only does it look aesthetically stunning, it feels weighty and expensive, as you would expect from a £26 lipstick. It is sturdy and makes me feel a million dollars when I use it, which is always nice.
The Rouge Pur Couture Mat’s range would make a lovely present, as would anything from YSL this Christmas. They have some incredible sets this year (see more here.) If you’re Norwich based, Jarrold is the only place to go for YSL, the customer service is incredible!
