10 must see shows at Norwich Theatre Royal

One of the many things I love is a trip to the Theatre. For me, nothing compares to the thrill of seeing a live performance. The 2018 season in Norwich is shaping up to be an incredible one! With so many shows and so little time I thought I’d share my 10 must see shows at Norwich Theatre Royal this year.

Around the world in 80 days

Tuesday 16th – Saturday 20th January

Embark on a hilarious adventure around the world with Philleas Fogg. The play is said to be high speed and hilarious. A cast of 8 play over 125 characters and venture from Victorian London to the exotic far east. It sounds like the perfect cure for the January blues!

Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella

Tuesday 27th February – Saturday 2nd March

Prepare for a twist on the classic tale with this dance masterpiece. It’s world war two, a young Cinderella magically meets a RAF pilot. The horrors of the Blitz then tear them apart. Will she find her beau again?  The set and costumes look absolutely phenomenal, you’ll to be transported to wartime London.

Fat Friends The Musical

Monday 12th – Saturday 17th March

From our TV Screens to the West End to Norwich Theatre Royal – this much loved sitcom hits the stage in March. Follow this group of foodie friends as they battle to loose weight. It’s received rave reviews from critics and the audience alike. Expect heart warming humour, a lively production and an all star cast!

Legally Blonde

Monday 26th – Saturday 31st March

OMG you guys!!! Practice your bend and snap because Elle Woods and co are in town! This hilarious musical adaptation of the millennial classic movie is finally coming to Norwich! The musical tells the story of Elle who heads to Havard to get her man back. Things don’t go exactly plan but hilarity ensures. Expect plenty of pink jazzy outfits in this all singing, all dancing spectacular.

Champions of Magic

Sunday 1st April at 19:30

The UK’s biggest touring magic show is at Norwich Theatre Royal for one night only. Watch Alex McAleer, Young and Strange, Fay Presto and Edward Hilsum make the impossible possible. The performance is packed full of levitation, teleportation, disappearance, mind reading and more. It’s received rave reviews in the West End so should shape up to be an incredible evening in Norwich.

Russian State Ballet of Siberia

Monday 2nd – Wednesday 4th April

Prepare to be mesmerised by the Russian State Ballet of Siberia. There will be three unmissable performances of The Snow Maiden (2nd), Swan Lake (3rd) and Romeo and Juliet (4th). Expect a breathtaking traditional performance of each of the pieces.

Cirque Berserk 2018

Thursday 5th – Saturday 7th April

Dubbed “Heart stompingly good fun” by Time Magazine this West End smash hit is set to thrill audiences. Cirque Beserk will be celebrating 250 years of the invention of circus with jaw dropping stunts and the wonders of contemporary circus.

The Jungle Book

Tuesday 10th – Saturday 14th April

Head through the jungle with Mowgli, Baloo and co with this adaptation of the much loved classic children’s tale. The stage and costumes for this one look spectacularl! It’s one for all of the family this April.

Shrek The Musical

Tuesday 26th June – Sunday 8th July

It’s been three years since the smash hit Shrek hit the stage in Norwich. X Factor’s Amelia Lily leads the cast as Princess Fiona. Join her, Shrek, Donkey, Lord Farquaad and Co on their adventures in Dulco and the swamp. Shrek was a childhood favourite of mine so I cannot wait to see the stage adaptation!

Miss Saigon

Wednesday 15th August – Saturday 15th September

This much loved west end smash hit tells the story of Kim, forced to work in a Saigon during the Vietnam war.  After falling in love with and being torn apart from a US soldier, she spends the next few trying to find him to let him know he’s a Dad. It’s another West End Classic that’s been on my to see list for ages now – so I couldn’t be any happier that it’s coming to Norwich!

 

I certainly can’t wait to see some of these West End smash hits. There’s so much theatre and so little time this year! Jersey Boys is coming to Norwich too and there’s the Norfolk and Norwich festival to look forward to as well. 2018 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year at Norwich Theatre Royal.
