The last leg of winter and the shortest month is here – if that’s not something to get excited about I don’t know what is! Fortunately, there are plenty of events all over Norfolk to keep us all occupied and hopefully make the 28 days fly by. From crafty events to gin and dancing here are 5 events in Norfolk that I’m excited about.
Experience a slice of the West End
Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s West-End Smash hit is set to delight audience in February. This musical comedy has received rave reviews and sounds like the perfect heart-warming anti-dote to this cold harsh month.
This free event celebrates crafts, local crafters and the heritage of these activities. There are workshops, events and live demonstrations for everything from crocheting, sewing, paper architecture, yoga, mindfulness and more. There are so many options it’s almost impossible to choose! So, whether you’re young, old, an expert or a novice it’s time to get your craft on.
Sewing lovers rejoice – Norwich Sewcials have a day of workshops ahead of their official launch party at 6:30pm. Pop along for a glass of fizz and some nibbles and find out more about the relaunch of this Norwich Sewing Community and their exciting plans. During the day they have a couple of workshops – you can get to grips with zips between 10am – 12pm (tickets £15) and get your head around measurements and adjustments between 3 – 4pm (tickets £15).
Take a stand
Norwich Rising Flash Mob – 14th February 1-2pm – the Forum, Norwich.
Join this flash-mob style dance event and take a stand against violence against women. This event is part of the Global One Billion Rising Campaign. The United Nations estimate that one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That’s one billion women and girls. Come along and dance, listen to the speakers and raise awareness of this important cause.
It’s Gin o’Clock
Spend the evening with Van Vino sampling a range of gins and gin cocktails. You’ll discover the history of this popular spirit and sample some exclusive mixes, whilst doing your bit to raise some money for the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind. It’s a win win!
If that wasn’t enough to keep you entertained – there’s more! Alright, I’m cheating slightly but there’s a few more events that you might love. Vikings are attacking Norwich Castle on 9th February 10:30 – 3:30pm as part of the ‘Viking: Rediscover the Legend’ exhibition – great for history lovers and kids. Speaking of the small people, the Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave is back at Epic Studios on 2nd March. Finally, if you’re a vintage fan, the Pre-loved Kilo event is back at Open on 24th Feb 10 -4.
Phew! There’s literally no excuse to be bored this month.
