Debenhams Beauty Hall has fast become my favourite place to shop for beauty products in Norwich. If I’m honest I’ve probably spent a little too much time in there! If you follow me over on Instagram you’ll have spotted that I was there for the first ever Debenhams Norwich Blogger Evening. A select group of bloggers were let loose in the store after hours to learn about the new and improved Beauty Club and some amazing AW17 Debenhams beauty launches.
It’s safe to say that I was in my element. I’m a huge beauty lover, so to spend time chatting to the lovely make up artists and skincare experts from each brand was wonderful. In fact I spent to much time playing with products and chatting I didn’t actually manage to get all the way around the store!
The Debenhams Beauty Club has had a makeover! You still get 3 points per pound every time you shop and a £5 reward when you hit 500 points. However the rewards now last 15 months and you can save them up unitl you have £50 worth of points… just think of all of the make up you can get with that! The gorgeous Alisha Dixon is now the face of the club and every month they have a product focus and will email you a round up of the best bits. If you’re a beauty lover joining the club is a no brainer!
What’s new for AW17
Bareminerals are one those brands that are well known and loved by everyone, yet I’d never gotten around to trying anything from them. I was introduced to their amazing new BarePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation with SPF 20 (£29). This is a full coverage foundation which promises 24 hours wear – a bold statement! It’s also said to rival the iconic Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. It comes in a range of 20 different shades. Alongside the foundation, Bareminerals have launched the Luxe Performance brush (£24.) This densely packed synthetic fibre brush is said to mimic fingertip foundation application.
I was given a sample of the BarePro foundation and their radiance primer, amongst a few other items. I’ve tried the foundation and primer together and they certainly live up to the hype. I found my foundation lasted all day long without moving, smudging or going cakey. The foundation is incredibly light, yet offers a lot of coverage, which for me is a great combination.
Benefit in Debenhams Norwich is one of the first Benefit Boutiques. I discovered that they offer Vita Liberata spray tans, strip waxing, hot waxing and make up masterclasses alongside their make up range. They have recently introduced a new brow service too, where you select your brow style from a number of images, making it even easier to get the perfect brows.
Make up wise Benefit have just launched the Foolproof Brow Powder Kit. The brow powder is shaped like an eyebrow and contains two different brow powder shades. The two shade are designed to mimic the two natural different tones in eyebrows, giving them an extra dimension. Also in the kit there a specially designed brow pen, which is said to make application seamless. Benefit have also released Punch Pop Lipglosses, which come in five different bright and bold shades.
I’ve lost track at the amount of times that I’ve visited Chanel in Debenhams to buy gifts for others, but I’ve never actually treated myself! With the launch of the Gabrielle Chanel fragrance and their holiday collections, this might have to change soon!
Gabrielle Chanel (from £51.10) is the first new fragrance launch from Chanel in fifteen years. It’s a pretty special one too thanks to the amount of work that’s gone into the design and the modernisation of their scents. Chanel worked with a expert glass maker to create an invisible punt (the dip in the bottom of the bottle) to ensure that the focus was on the simple square label in the centre. The four corners are designed to reflect the four notes in the fragrance. There’s also a hidden Chanel logo on the inside of the lid and all of the bottles come with their own special sleeves. The scent itself is modern and fresh. I dare say that it was designed with younger women in mind. It’s a subtly floral scent with notes of Jasmine, ylang-ylang, orange blossom and tuberose.
The Chanel AW17 make up collection was inspired by Californian road trips, its bold, unique and designed to be used on the go. The travel diary collection features Palette Essential (£52) which has a concealer, blusher and highlighter. There’s also the Rouge Alure Lipstick in First Light (£28), a neon orange-red shade; the Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Road Movie (£37.80), which contains a stunning teal eyeshadow alongside two browns and a navy colour. Finally there’s the Chanel Le Vernis in Horizon Line (£2o), which is a beautiful pale grey nail varnish.
Dior have been rather busy with their new launches. Their incredible new AW17 collection is all about the metallics. The star of the show for me was the Metaliser Eyes and Lips Cream Shadow (£17). They comes in six different shades and are designed to be used both on the eyes and lips. My favourite shade was a the mesmerising Silver Shock. It felt creamy and bendable, but set quickly and wouldn’t budge. This would look gorgeous as an eyeshadow. I’m not sure if I could pull it off on the lips, but the editorial images of this collection were stunning.
Dior have also released the Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick (£27) which is a combination of a matte and a metallic shade all in one. The centre of the lipstick has a gorgeous metallic finish highlighting the centre of the lips making them look fuller. Also on the lip front they’ve released Rouge Doir Liquid Lipsticks (£27.50) which come in velvet, satin, metallic and matte finishes. This is a first for Dior and I love the concept, the shade are stunning and they have nail polishes to go with them. Once set the formulas do not budge and they stain the lips. It’s well worth going and swatching this Dior collection.
Alongside launching a range of make up with Victoria Beckham, Estée Lauder have been busy coming out with a new skincare products. The first is the Estée Lauder – ‘Double Wear’ 3 minute priming moisture face mask (£52 for 8). It’s a new take on the ever popular sheet masks and is ideal for using before a big event. This sheet mask is designed to be used for three minutes as a hydrating primer. It sit somewhere in the middle of make up and skincare. They have also come out with the Estée Lauder – ‘Advanced Night Repair’ eye concentrate matrix (£49). An eye serum version of their iconic Advance Night Repair Serum. The concentrate is said to reduce the look of lines, puffiness and dark circles, whilst nourishing the delicate eye area, giving the eye a ‘wide awake’ look. It sounds fantastic to me!
Estée Laude are also running a gift with purchase at the moment. if you buy two products, one of which must be skincare or foundation you can choose between two gift sets. One for the lips and one for the eyes. If you’re an Estée Lauder fan, it’s a no brainer!
The original version of Gentleman was launched to celebrate the opening of their first mens boutique in 1974. The original smells like a rather sexy gentleman. It’s deep, spicy and woody. This year they have reformulated the scent for the modern gentleman and guess what? It smells exactly like the modern-day sexy man. It has notes of pear, iris, lavender, leather and patchouli, making it fresh, light and sexy. I have to say it’s the kind of fragrance that I’d wear myself! They have the rather dashing Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the face of the scent too, which is always a bonus. Google him, you can thank me later!
The Givenchy – ‘Mascara Noir Interdit’ lash extension effect mascara has a rather unique wand, it bends 90 degrees and has a rather densely packed synthetic brush. It’s said to give the same effect as wearing lash extensions. The packaging of the mascara is to die for! The level of detail that goes into the make up packaging is incredible. Every single items is inspired by one of Givenchy’s catwalk shows. The Interdit Mascara comes in a rectangular, weighty black tube. It looks like it has a studded ribbon running down one side with the raised Givenchy silver logo on one side. It looks and feels expensive. The design of the mascaca a is inspired by the studs used on one of Givenchy’s catwalk collections.
If you’re a fashion lover who wants to treat yourself to some special make up – head to Givenchy. Every single detail has been so well thought out and the customer service is exceptional.
Over the last few years Lancôme have continually come out with some amazing new products. Their latest two launches are the Advanced Génifique Sensitive’ dual concentrate (£59) and the Teint Idole Ultra Wear’ oil-free foundation stick (£25.50). I also had a play around with the Matte Juicy Shakers – which are so pigmented and gorgeous!
The Advanced Génifique Sensitive’ dual concentrate is the sensitive version of their well-known and loved Génifique concentrate. It’s a glow boosting, multitasking serum that is designed to be used at night. It has a lot of the same glow boosting properties as the original serum but this concentrate will also soothe sensitive skin and reduce any redness. To active it you push the blue antioxidant concentrate in into the clear probiotic solution to create your own fresh, high potent serum. It’s one of those products that both pretty and effective.
The Teint Idole Ultra Wear’ oil-free foundation sticks come in 16 different shades and gives a flawless matte finish that feels velvety soft. I was so surprised at how lightweight and soft these were. They are designed to be multi use sticks as well, so you can use them as concealer and you can use them to contour with too. I imagine these will be great for people on the go.
YSL has been one of my favourite brands for the longest time now. They consistently come out with high quality, interesting products. They’re a brand that I know I can rely on. This seasons big launch has been the ‘All Hours’ liquid foundation (£33.50). This matte foundation is said to be waterproof, smudge proof and last 24 hours – all pretty big claims. The general consensus on the internet is that it lives up to its hype and it offers a little bit of glow, so it’s not a flat matte. I for one cannot wait to get testing out my sample of this.
YSL have also recently launched their Black Opium Perfume in limited edition 1920’s style packaging. It’s the same gorgeous scent in rather glitzy packaging. The YSL Christmas gift sets are also starting to trickle in store. If you’re new to the brand, the sets are a good way of being able to try out a selection of their iconic products.
From one of my favourite brands to another one! Urban Decay are still riding high on the success of their recently launches Naked Heat Palette (£39.50). Of which I am a proud owner. This stunning palette features a range of warm toned browns, bronze, oranges and red shades in glitter and matte formulas. It’s the perfect pallete for creating a warm smoky eye and it suits most skin tones.
Urban have also expanded their Vice lipstick line with 10 new shades (£15.50) pictured above. There are a mixture of finishes but quite a few are metalized, so bang on trend for this season. The vice lipstick are some of my favorites. There over 120 shades to choose from, including some more ‘unusual’ colours and even the matte shades are rather nourishing.
Oh and if you heard the rumour that the Naked Smoky palette was being discontinued, it’s not true!
As I mentioned before I didn’t manage to get around to all of the beauty concessions. However, I did spot that Elemis are offering Skin Lab consultations which 3D map your skin, they have fairly recently released their Pro Collagen Marine Oil (£65) and Pro Collagen Marine Cream with SPF 30 (£82). Elizabeth Arden were offering Oxygen facials. Clinique have just launched their Pep Start Double Bubble Mask (£24) bubble face mask and Even Better Glow Foundation (£27). Clarins have reformulated their double serum (£57) so it not longer contains mineral oil and now have a range of SOS facemasks (£30).
As you can see the AW17 Debenhams Beauty launches are rather exciting! With a brilliant beauty club, exclusive brands and warm and friendly staff – it’s the best place to shop for beauty! I wanted to say a huge thank you to Debenhams Norwich for hosting this fantastic event and a special thank you to all of their brands involved in the evening. You can expect a lot of beauty content coming your way!
