Before my first Biba, I was never really a handbag kind of girl. Now that has all changed and I am regularly perusing the Biba section in House of Fraser, or online. Their unique designs caught my eye and the quality has got me coming back for more. Biba bags are an affordable luxury and you’ve got to treat yourself every now and again right? Today I thought I would introduce my newest friend Gretal and talk about an old friend too!
Gretal is a gorgeously soft, leather, cross body bag, with gold hardware and a tassel. The Biba logo is embossed onto the leather at the front, it is discreet but you can still see it. The top closes with a magnet, which is pretty cool and rather satisfying. The strap can be adjusted using the buckle and it can be taken on and off, so I guess you could use this as a clutch too.
The inside of the bag is made of three compartments, which makes it easy to organise your stuff. It holds a lot more than it looks too, which is always a bonus. The inside is lined with Biba embossed fabric and there are two small pockets – one with a zip too. So if you’re fed up of a disorganised bag, this one is for you.
The quality is second to none, I know this is a piece that is durable and is going to last a long time. It is the perfect size to hold all of your daily essential and it looks rather smart, which is always nice. It retails at £99, however House of Fraser often have discounts on so it’ll be worth checking out Biba bag when that is on, to get more of a bargain. Saying that I would be happy to pay the full £99 for it.
Next up is my old friend whose name I have long forgotten, she’s made a few appearances on here and over on Instagram too. This bag was a Christmas gift from my parents, I think they paid around the £60 mark for it as it was discounted. (Do you sense a theme here?) I can’t seem to find it online anymore, so forgive me but I have to talk about her!
The bag is made from lack leather and suede and it has the gold hardware you always find on Biba bags. It is sturdy and durable, despite the fact it has suede on the edge it fairs well in the English weather. Unfortunately, the bag is a little scratched now but that is only because it is well used and at times overloaded.
The bag is made up of one large compartment which closes with a magnet and two large compartments on either side which do up with a zip. One has organisational pockets within that, which are useful for your make up and phone etc. The zips add an extra bit of security too and I tend to put valuables in them when I’m out and about in London or on trains etc. It is the perfect size for a large day bag, or a work bag as I can fit my lunch and a book alongside the usual handbag essentials. As shown in the image above there are press studs on the side which can come undone if you need the extra space, or prefer the winged look. Again, it is a really useful feature – Biba bags are always well thought out. The bag is well worth the money and is well loved and used. It is smart so it can add a professional or a more classic edge to an outfit.
All in all I am smitten with my Biba bags and I am definitely going to invest in them more. The quality is amazing and they have a good range of styles, they always have the more classic bags alongside this seasons styles. Another thing I love about them are that they look classy but they don’t scream designer – they are discreet in a sense. If you’re ever in House of Fraser, they are well worth a good look and if you can’t get into a store their online delivery and returns (if you need them) are amazing.
Are you a Biba fan?
