From the panto to the party – Sleeping Beauty becomes Charlotte Tilbury’s Dolce Vita

The stars of Sleeping Beauty at Norwich Theatre Royal – Elizabeth Carter and Glenn Adamson, were treated to a spot of pampering at Jarrold. Elizabeth, who plays Sleeping Beauty headed to Charlotte Tilbury for a Dolce Vita makeover, whilst her co-star Glenn was treated to a facial at Clinique.  The Dolce Vita is Charlotte’s signature look – a warm brown smoky eye, a nude lip and gorgeous glowing skin. Quite a contrast to Sleeping Beauty’s make up and Elizabeth’s daily look. Taking her from the panto to the party in no time at all!

When it comes to panto make up, it’s a rather heavy and dramatic affair. The make up needs to be seen from the very back of the theatre and survive under the bright lights. In this production at Norwich Theatre Royal Sleeping Beauty’s eyes are light and bright and her lips are a gorgeous red shade. Elizabeth does all of her own make up in around 15 minutes too which is a really impressive feat! Day to-day she prefers a natural look, using BB cream and a dash of mascara. I suppose you could say that the Dolce Vita look sits somewhere in between the two. You can make the look as dramatic or as subtle as you like. It’s simple to recreate at home, so a personal MUA isn’t needed!

In fact the whole brand has been built around making make up shopping simple. All of Charlotte’s products are divided into looks, so you can shop the collection. They are further broken down into eye and hair colour, making it easy to find make up to enhance your features. There’s a whole heap of tutorials online and all of the staff are so knowledgeable too!

Then there’s the products which have been developed through years of industry experience and are inspired by her life. The gorgeous rose gold packaging with the sunburst designs on them are inspired by Ibiza sunsets (Charlotte used to live out there). The magic cream was named that by models who couldn’t get enough of it backstage at fashion week. Her full fat lashes was developed to stop her needing to use 5 different types of mascara (5?!.) It’s all about hassle free make up!

Elizabeth already had the most gorgeous skin, but the combination of the Miracle Glow Balm (a frangipani scented hydrating cleanser which doubles up as a mask); the Goddess Clay Mask (a Spanish clay mask designed to boost glow and soften the skin) and the infamous Magic Cream really brightened and lifted her complexion. The Magic Foundation applied flawlessly over the top – it looked like skin not make up! The Retoucher brightened under her eyes, whilst the Bronze and Glow Duo sculpted and highlighted Elizabeth’s face. It’s easy to see why this is a bestseller, in fact Elizabeth herself has one at home. Finally, a swirl and pop of the Cheek to Chic Blusher in Ecstasy was applied to the apples of the cheeks to add a healthy flush.

The Dolce Vita look is all about the dark and smoky eyes. A contrast to Sleeping Beauty’s light and bright eye make up. The palette makes a smoky eye as simple as A,B,C,D. You begin with the gorgeous champagne shade to prime the lids. You then move clockwise around the palette and add the warm brown shade to the outer third to ‘enhance’ the look. The deep bronze shade was added in the case and outer edge of the eye to ‘smoke’ it out before the stunning golden glitter was pressed or the lids to make them ‘pop’. The eyeshadows were applied in an almond shape to elongate and lift Elizabeth’s eyes.

Next up was Charlotte’s signature Feline Flick. Hayley made this look like walk in the park! You simply look down, press the eyeliner along the lash line, draw a dot where you want the flick to end and join it all up. (Simple, apparently…I’ve yet to brave it!) The look was the finished off with the incredible full fat lashes. A mascara that does it all and made Elizabeth look like she was wearing falsies. Even those in the gods could have seen her fabulous lashes! Finally, onto the lips – the iconic Pillow Talk Lip Cheat and Lipstick were used to add a subtle touch of pink to the lips before a gloss was applied.

Elizabeth went from the panto to the party in under an hour. Sleeping Beauty was definitely ready for the ball! (Different panto but you get my drift!) Elizabeth looked stunning. I imagine sitting down for an hour and being treated to a makeover during panto season was absolute heaven too. With a few Christmas events still to go and New Years Eve around the corner I’ll be channelling my inner Dolce Vita. (and you should too!)
