Lush Ultrabland

I have been on a bit of a mission to improve my skin lately, I am fed up of the mess it has been in. While I was really happy with using Micellar water, it wasn’t quite enough. I felt like my skin needed a ‘proper’ cleanse. After um-ing and arr-ing  for a while, I decided to nip into Lush. I had been really impressed with the Mask of Magnaminty and the staff in there are always really helpful. So I ventured in. I spoke to a wonderful lady, who talked me through all of the skincare for my skin type, made her personal recommendations and then demonstrated the products in use. What an absolute star! After much testing and deciding, I came out with the Lush Ultrabland cleanser.

“Ultra effective, ultra gentle face cleanser…A rich, soft, oily cleansing cream that cares gently for all skin types. Softens the skin whilst thoroughly cleaning it – this product is super effective at its job. Based on an ancient beeswax and vegetable oil formula from the times of Galen, the Greek physician and philosopher, this product will lift dirt, grease and make up from the skin, without stripping away your skin’s natural defences.”

“Almond oil and beeswax combine to make a thick base that grease and dirt on the face to bind to, enabling it to be lifted away on a damp cotton pad. We then include a minimum of super effective ingredients to help your skin in a simple but sophisticated way. Rose water and rose absolute reduce redness of the skin and balance and calm it. Honey soothes, moisturises and is antiseptic. Fresh irises steeped in the almond oil are an ancient skin beautifying ingredient. We’ve named this bland, because it is bland. Deliberately so. We wanted this to work on every skin type, without causing irritation, reaction or puffiness.”

This basically does what it says on the tin. It removes make up like a dream (even stubborn mascara) it cleans your face without stripping it and it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. After a week of using this my skin was less dry and it looked a lot healthier!

It is quick and simple to use too. You apply a small amount of the balm to you fingertips and then rub all over your dry face. You can rub it all over your eyes too. You then take a warm, damp cotton wool pad and begin removing it. The make up falls off and your skin feels amazing!

At first this felt really weird, but you do get used to it and now I see it as a treat for my skin. Some people find the scent very odd, however I barely notice the ‘scent’ and I wouldn’t really call it a scent anyway. The slightly odd beeswax smell is certainly worth the effect it has on your skin and you get used to it after a couple of uses. All in all this product is amazing and I now wouldn’t be without it!

It is a real multi-tasker and I’d recommend it to anyone, irrespective of their skin type. Like they say, it is bland for a reason and if you have really problem skin, you can use just this for a month and it brings the balance back. I can certainly be testament to that!

A little bit goes a long way too, so it is certainly worth the £10.95 price tag.
